Hi ,

I am trying to test an InfoPath 2010 form, and have followed the steps mentioned in your post. I have used VS 2010 to capture the web test. However, I am not sure how to add the plug-in ExtractAndSubstituteDynamicInfoPathData. I can see it as part of the classses in the InfoPathExtractionRules.dll. But I am not able to add it.

Can you some shed some light on this.

Thank you very much. The new DLL from Sep 14 works like a charm.

It is in fact a problem with SP2. Not the first release of SP2, but a later hotfix. In my case, it occurs after SharePoint 2007 Version 12.0000.6545.5001. This is the August 31, 2010 Cumulative Update.

I tried the plugin on a local server that says it has 4763, but I could not reproduce the error. Can you tell me more about the InfoPath form?

Where is the InfoPath form? In a document library? On a webpart? In an XmlFormView Control? Somewhere else? If it isn't in a document library, you will need to specify the InvocationPath property of the plugin.

Also, do you happen to have Person/Group Picker control in your form? This control makes some extra requests. I haven't done extensive testing with that control, so there could be cases that are not handled.

The InfoPath Form Services version is 14.0.4763.1000.

I did try ipfs2010webtest in VS2010 but this is when I got the error. I'll get you a Fiddler trace as soon as I can...

Can you specify which versions of the toolkit and InfoPath you are using when you get that error? Also, a fiddler trace could be useful for debugging. I've seen parameters change after patches and service packs which require updates to the toolkit.

Did you get ipfs2010webtest working in VS2010? If not, I might have some time to look into that.

Should this work under InfoPath 2010 yet? I can see it's been updated for Visual Studio 2010, but there is no mention of InfoPath 2010 as far as I can see...

If not, I'd be really interested to understand if there are any differences between the forms architecure for IPFS 2007 vs 2010 so I can record tests myself. Any help or pointers in the right direction would be much apprciated...

The dll for VS2010 does not work. I get 'Operation not supported' errors when I reference the dll and attemp to open any extraction rule ?

Update for anyone else who comes across this thread. A recent patch (probably Service Pack 2) added some items to the InfoPath eventlog which moved the index of the canary. This issue is fixed in the recent release of the tool.

This release includes a dll for both Visual Studio 2008 and 2010.

Add a reference to InfoPathExtractionRules.dll in your test project to get the ExtractAndSubstituteDynamicInfoPathData web test plugin. This plugin automatically recognizes the InfoPath requests then extracts/substitutes the dynamic InfoPath data. If your InfoPath form is in an XmlFormViewControl, use the InvocationPath parameter to identify which requests are for InfoPath.

Update:

Since I'm pretty sure you've done a good job with this, I've tested with a very simple form.
1 inputfield + submit button. (Thus containing 1 postback.formserver)

Both VS 2008 (I've installed VS 2008 to compare results) and VS 2010 plugins are doing their job and I can load test the forms.

When trying to load test our initial form, I get the
"There has been an error while loading the form. The security validation for this form is invalid."
on all the postback.formserver requests (3 of them in this form), except on the first one.

Quite annoying :-)
